on and on, we keep going crowded like subway cars

((^^i was listening to matt nathanson's "to the beat of our noisy hearts" this morning on the subway to work, and that lyric made me smile because at that moment i was smooshed between the crowd on the subway car and the door^^))

first day interning at Good Housekeeping! i'm pooped. not because they worked me to death, but because i'm not used to 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. days (plus 2 1/2 hours of class).

here was my day: i got a visitor's pass and went on up the escalator, figured out the
fancy elevator where you have to enter what floor you're going to into this separate pole which then tells you which elevator to take. whoa.
met my amazingly nice editor who introduced me to a bunch of people who all liked the fact that she and i are both from louisiana :) what she had me do today was organize and file these cabinets of catalogs and press releases from furniture, interior decorating, and craft stores. nothing brutal. tomorrow i'll have a comp
uter at my desk (complete with an email address!) she showed me some of the stuff that she's working on that will be coming up in september's issue (a new section in the home department, stay tuned! ha) i had lunch in the nice open cafeteria in the beautiful lobby of Hearst. as i was heading back to the elevator i saw Gayle King, Oprah's bff.

celebrity spotting at Hearst count: 1

my assignment for the week is to come up with craft ideas for the december issue to pitch at a meeting on friday. having to look at craft sites for inspiration more than i already do? shucks, what a drag ;)

after work, we had our MU class at the Paley Media Center. we saw a premiere screening of Bravo's new reality show NYC Prep and then
most of the cast members were there to answer questions afterwards. interesting stuff.

time to go dry my hair and get to bed early.

one more thing! my editor told me about a craft fair in brooklyn this weekend called renegade craft fair (think etsy-type vendors everywhere). plans for saturday: check.
